Kawai has been a patient of the health center since childhood. She fondly remembers the play room and sewing lessons offered at the health center in  the late-70s. Kawai recently moved back to Waimanalo and currently serves as a Community Building Liaison for the Queen Liliʻuokalani Children’s Center, Ko‘olau Poko Unit.
